Game Cam works ok, and at this time I am using Xfire (free), which works fairly well also.

I had the same problem at one point, Fraps would always reduce my fps to 30-35, same with xfire on DX11. Now I use Playclaw although you have to pay for it, it doesnt kill your fps as much and the file sizes are quite big before compression ie 22mins = around 6.4gb in the options your able to dedicate a number of CPU core to compression while recording to reduce the size.

Thats the thing i am a bit skeptical on paying for a software as i just want to make a few minute videos on some kills i make in bad company 2 really.

If you're planning to edit the footage afterwards Fraps is your best bet. Xfire/wegame and the rest usually have funky codecs that mess stuff up all the time.

If you just want to record and upload something xfire is pretty good imo. Wegame not too bad either. I've always thought fraps was the best though. :)

One thing to note on editing, FRAPs uses it's own codec, so if you want to edit the files on another PC, FRAPs must be installed on that one.

i still have FRAPS in mind...but is not FRAPS a limited record? i.e. i would have to purchase the software right?

The demo limits your recording time to about 25-30 seconds worth if recording, but if you are making small montages, then that may be fine for you.

I have the full version of FRAPS running permanently. Its benchmarking features are great when you are tweaking a new game, and often the game itself wont let you take screenshots of scoreboards etc.. And of course video recording is close to the only accepted proof of cheating.
I don't know about the codec Dan talks about, but on the same computer it was easily edited and converted in Windows Movie Maker.

$37 may seem like a lot, but you will be using it years after the latest Call Of Ca$h game has been forgotten.

I see your logic vreki, but my use of xfire is just for a few kills i bag over the summer in bad company 2 and possibly coh ti show to my friend that's all. Although if i see myself in the future wanting to make more videos of better quality i will definitely consider fraps.

I'm interested in which quality do you record with Playclaw. I use Fraps and record in 720p (play at 1280x768). The performance is barely above 30fps. However I get 1.5min ~ 3.5GB file size.
