5770? good or bad?

Whats up techmasters! woah its been a while since i posted a thread hehe.

Anyways guys i need to replace my 8800GTX in my home computer, plus this would be good because i can build another comp with my gtx. I am currently looking at the 5770 which is retailing at GBP125 pounds a brilliant price!


I would like to know of its performance in the field. I wont go over 130 pounds as this card is just a temp to cover my home computer for the summer as i have another computer i use in university and that rig is pumped up with an i5 and a 260gtx. So i just need a card to work (play) with in the summer vacation.

The only game that will be using resources as much will be Bad Company 2, me likes teh online!

Around the same as a 4870. Its s good card for the price. you will do alright in bfbc2 with it.

I got the card, and it runs great. You won't have any problems running BFBC2 at all with it (but protip, disable HBAO) :P

Runs other really demanding games like Metro 2033 very good as well, even if not the very super-duper-highest DX11 settings.

It's a nice card, leans heavily on tech instead of "teh rawr megahurts".

The comparisons I've seen do put it on par with my li'l ol' 4870, and that's a good thing...bit pricey tho', at 125 Grand British Deneiros...

Tbqh the price fits well with the card. I have seen offers on the GTX260 but cant seem to find many as well on the 4890 seems to me that they might be discontinued. I wish i bought a 4870 at the time :s went with a gtx260 for my uni comp.

In reference to the HBAO settings in BFBC2, yeah i turn that off anyways for performance as well as lighting man it is like playing with a flash bang in the room lmfao.

Anyways gentlemen judging by your comments it seems that the card is a best buy for my requirements specially handling bfbc2 at acceptable settings! Thanks guys plus rep for the both of you!

My friend has that card, he also has a core i5 and 4 gigs of ram. his system can run crysis on high settings t roughly 40-45 fps. Heres a link to the card running crysis(it would run faster but you have to remember he's recording as well.)
