Logitech G9 or G5 for BF and CoD gaming?

I'm looking around for a new mouse. The Logitech G9 and G500 caught my eye. Which one is the best? G9 looks cool but kinda small. I'm looking for a mouse that is as big as the G7 or G5. Any suggestions?

I dont really know, the G500 does pretty much all the G9 is but for slightly less.

Out of those two though go for the G500 the 5700dpi is a keeper and you wont get that with the G9 only with the G9x which will cost you more.

Well, FutureShop has to G9x. The G9 is rated 4.6/5 and G500 is: 4.2/5.
A lot of reviews say the buttons on the side make the mouse feel cheap, and if you click on the middle mouse, it will do something to the mouse wheel.
I feel like both of them, but need 1. G9x looks nice and reviews are better, but for the G500, the reviews are pretty bad although the DPI is good.

both the G500 & G9x both can reach 5700dpi, upto you if want to spend a little more or not.

What are you using right now?

I have a G5 and I love it. It's only up to 2000 DPI, but I almost always play at 1000 DPI because I find anything higher requires too little physical mouse movement for my taste. I bump it up to 2000 when using a tank in a BF game or something similar and it works quite nicely.

Oh, I guess the G500 is the newer model of the ol' G5. I would go with that then. Wireless is meh and I've never liked the G9 personally.

I use a G500 and it feels a lot like my old G5. Even though it goes up to 5700 DPI, the highest I can ever use in a game is 3200. Usually I stick with 1000 DPI. So the main difference between the G5 and G500 for me is the extra thumb button, which I really like. The unlockable scroll wheel is handy for browsing forums, too.

I'm using a G7. Mouse wheel got worn out, bottom was too. So I got a Razer DeathAdder, a year later, the mouse's finger tip buttons were getting a little too worn out.

Someone asked recently about going from a MX518 to a G500, so I posted some thoughts of my change to a G500.

I've gone through 2 mx518, both had failures on the left clicking after around 2.5 - 3 years of gaming. In total I've used mx518's for 5+ years before getting the G500. I had planned on getting another mx518, but saw a deal on the G500 for $39 at bestbuy. I've had this G500 now for 5 months.
~ Price: the G500 is listing about $14 more than the mx518 on newegg.
~ Size: the G500 is slightly fatter than the mx518. It took a couple weeks of using it before it felt "normal" during gaming. I don't even notice the difference now and it feels fine.
~ Grip: the G500 doesn't have the rubberized sides on it that the mx518 has. I miss that as it had better grip. The G500 has a rough textured plastic feel.
~ Wheel: the G500's wheel is not as crisp as the mx518. The G500 wheel's roll is softer and has maybe .5mm longer throw per click - although I've never had 2 mice feel exactly the same. the G500's wheel button (mouse 3) is definitely sloppier and not as crisp. this may be in part due to the G500 having wheel unlock and left/right wheel side clicking that the mx518 doesn't have.
~ Wheel unlock: the G500 has a button below the wheel that unlocks the wheel so it can free spin. This is not something you want in FPS gaming, although I've used it a few times web browsing or on pdf's pages that were very long.
~ Features: some other features the G500 has is a removable weight tray to add weights that come with it so you can adjust the weight of the mouse. I run with no weights as i like my mouse to be as light as possible. The G500 has a laser sensor vs the mx518's optical. the both work fine and I cant tell a difference in tracking on my func surface 1030 gaming pad. the G500 has visible led bars showing you what sensitivity level you have the mouse set at which is nice. The +/- sensitivity buttons are together on the top left side of the mouse so you can change dpi on the fly - this is a better layout than the mx518. To access all the functions you need to install the G500 software. Once installed you can custom change each of the 5 sensitivity levels to anything you like between 200 - 5700 dpi. At 5700 dpi BadCompany2's tank turret speed is sweet!! The G500's software also allows macro programming, and its very programmable. I once programmed a bf2 solo tv macro and it worked ridiculously good. The G500 has onboard memory so all profiles / sensitivities and macros are saved right on the mouse. You can then plug the mouse into another computer and it works the same without having the software..
~ The G500 is a good mouse and the only faults I can find with it are the lack of rubberized grips and slightly sloppier mouse wheel.
