    Need some smartphone advice

I'm on an AT&T family plan right now, and would like to get a smartphone. But, I will be living in London next year, so I need something that I can use with a UK provider as well.

The only phones I've really heard of are the iPhone and Nexus One.

    iPhone:
Probably cheaper since I can upgrade through AT&T (iff the $30/mon data charge doesn't require a 2 yr. commitment as well)
Can't use it overseas without unlocking it, which I honestly don't want to mess with (unless there's some way to do it legally)

    Nexus One:
Price is almost half of a new computer build
I'm guessing it will work fine on UK plans

Also, if it matters, I will primarily be using the phone like a netbook (more web surfing/day planner/music than pics/video/texting).

Do they have the Droid in the UK? If not, go with the iPhone. Lots of apps and such. What I REALLY would get would be the iPad, as you are going to use it as a netbook. But if you cant get that, then just the iPhone.

iPhones are pretty cool if you are looking for an iPod that has a phone duck taped to the back of it. I have one and don't regret buying it, but it really isn't the God phone everyone says it is.

As for your question, why the hell are you moving to London?

Nah, I'm studying at LSE for a year. But anyway, like I said I don't know much about smartphones and the iPhone/Nexus One are the only ones I've heard about. I don't want an iPad either since I already have access to a netbook (getting a smartphone so I don't have to carry it around).
