40GB SSD+ 7200rpm HDD VS. 10,000RPM drive

Which is better. I was thinking the SSD will get full too early. But I am not sure. What do you think I should get?

7200 HDD hands down. 10k is over kill for home use and I couldn't imagine using a 40gb HDD. I have a 500gb HDD right now and need to buy a second when I have the spare cash. lol

They'll be practical when the price per GB gets somewhere close to that of disc hard drives. They are technically superior but, the way I see it, they're far to expensive to justify for practical usage, unless you're really loaded.

What games do you play? Do you do anything else that would require a quick HD? What SSD drive?

Well I right all I really play is BF:BC2 and mostly use computer for gaming. Is there a noticeable difference between 7200 and 10000 RPM?

You won't notice a difference for gaming as far as I know.

You will have faster load times in a game that already loads quick. You will see more gains in opening zip files, installing games, coping files. If you play any other games that have long load times then you will see a difference. I just don't understand your original statement.
Were you talking about 3 different drives? a 7200rpm size unknown, a 10,000rpm size unknown, and a 40gb ssd speed unknown?

No I meant a 40GB SSD+ 7200RPM combined VS. just one 10000RPM drive.

I don't know, maybe I'm missing something but that still looks like you are talking about 3 drives. I still don't know the speed of the SSD or the sizes of the other HDD's.

OPTION#2: 300GB 10000 RPM drive.

If you put windows on a 40GB SSD you will see a difference. You will also notice windows not get slower over time.

I would go for option 1.

Make sure you SSD has trim. PC Perspective has a good chart on all kinds of makes and models.
