Hi, Back in August I got an Alienware M17x with an Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.8Ghz/4gb 1066mhz ram/2 x nVidia Geforce 260m/250GB 7200RPM Hard Drive, everything was running great and I've never had a computer with such power before so it was quite awesome, but then I ran into some troubles, and after many phone calls to Alienware they built me a brand new laptop with the same exact specs except they replaced my 260Ms with 2 ATI Radeon Mobility 4870. The cards are supposed to perform better but I haven't felt like they are. For example in the Battlefield Bad Company 2 Beta they increased my frame by 5 frames max. I normally fairly decent with computers but when it comes down to how much of a performance boost I should get I have no clue. Also I've noticed in COD MW2 when their is a lot of smoke on screen my frame rate will drop down to about 28 (AC-130 Spec Op) this never happened with my 260m if I remember correctly. Also with Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the laptop with the nVidia cards the map would load very quickly, but now with the ATI cards my computer takes atleast a good 40 seconds to load the map. Is that a driver issue possibly? I've reinstalled the drivers that came with my laptop and it didn't seem to do anything, and tonight I installed the latest beta drivers (10.3) and that hasn't improved anything. If you guys can help me out I would be very appreciative, I'm probably being paranoid that their is something else wrong with my laptop, but I just want to make sure that everything is alright.
