The benchmark is old, it was out with the Ati DX11 cards. It still looks nice but isn't unique for Nvidia.
3D Vision Surround looks very interesting, but it requires three 120 HZ monitors and two Nvidia cards in SLI.
That makes EyeFinity look cheap in comparison, I think they are overestimating how much money people are willing to spend on this.
I hope they also end up offering something similar to ATI with one card that can drive three standard monitors.

The hardware needed inside your gaming machine isn't as simplified as AMD and the Radeon 5000 series cards that can power three displays on one card. The Surround setup requires two Nvidia cards in SLI; The demo on the show floor was running two "Next Generation" GF100 GPUs. One GPU powers the left and center displays, and the other powers the right display. In this case, the displays weren't monitors, rather three 120 Hz DLP projectors pointed at one very long screen. If you happen to have three 120 Hz monitors lying around, you should be good to go.

I totally agree with you that eyefinity makes much more sense than 3D vision. Everybody loves more and larger monitors, while 3D vision requires those strange glasses which are kind of expensive when you have more than one people.

You also hit the nail with the willingness of people to pay. The real battle is at mid range. So far, ATI has excellent 5770, but nvivida has none.

In BC2 the 480 is slighty ahead of the 5870 but the price difference for that is about £100,, So I think I will get myself a 5870 this time around and skip nVidia yet again.

That is horrendous. I guess I'll stay with 9800GTX+ a bit longer before I see the performance chart of 450.

The GTX 480 may only seem slightly better now but when more DX11 games come out you will see the difference. The real noticeable strength is in the tessellation. In Uningine it scores almost twice as well. For now it may be wiser to wait a bit longer for prices to drop but a 5870 seems to be the better value right now.

$229 for 1GB version and $199 for 768MB version. Not too bad. Finally a DX11 mainstream card from NVIDIA that has good price/performance ratio.
