    Friend's Computer Won't Boot

My friend just messaged me that his computer won't boot. "it counts down from 20 seconds, but when i try to use the keyboard to scroll down to "start normall" it wont scroll"

Apparently it won't boot at all, even in safe mode. He's been away at college since the summer and left his PC home, although other people have been using it.

    Any thoughts?

If his keyboard is USB and won't scroll down tell him to check in his BIOS that USB keyboard are detected/allowed/whatever. He'll probably need a PS/2 keyboard to do that though, in which case he might as well just use that...

I had that kind of problem before. It turned out the cheapset died. For a $50 motherboard, it survived long enough after long abusive use.
