Possibly a Driver Update for my Graphic's Card?

Well I've had my computer for about 3 Months now, & about 1 week ago my computer wasn't able to start. I'd press the power button, I'd hear the fan and all but the power button wasn't lit on at all. No display on the screen at all but it sounded like something was trying to run and it failed. I then clicked the power button which was not lit and oddly it just shutdown. After a couple of tries, it turns on but the quality of the load up is chopped up and not normal.

So then I let it go and it failed. Then a couple hours later I tried 3 times did the same thing as the 1st problem. After the next try it turns on, and it looks like brand new. The computer says that it had been shut down due to some graphic card problem. Then the computer offered me 4 options. Such as downloading 3rd party drivers or something like that. Then 3 to do with the Graphic Card. I did a serch up for possible drivers with the computer manually not on any website, and it said that it should be up to date.


But I went through with the graphic card operation and they sent me to some manufacture's website with all kind of graphic cards and their avialable options. I'd look through into mine, i'd get the driver update. Installed the program, with the proper driver update & after I downloaded it. It loaded up some kind of ATi program. I runed the driver update and then it failed due to some kind of disk space memory error. Ever since then i've been stuck. And the last 3 days it hasn't done any of these error's. I'm not sure if I courrupted my graphic card, or any damage to it.

I just want to know if I need to upgrade it, and how it's done safely. And even if its my graphic card thats the problem ?

If it doesnt even attempt to load windows, then it isnt loading any drivers either.

Start it in safe mode and use the standard VGA driver. If that doesnt work then you are likely to have a hardware failure somewhere.

VGA driver. Is that a back-up driver or something. I'll have to look into that because yesturday I went through recent problems reports and solutions and I saw that in my history there was STANDARD VGA GRAPHICS ADAPTER problem with the description of not being able to load driver software on 3/12/09. Ever since then there's been (WINDOWS) problems such as shut down unexpectedly & video hardware problem over 40 problems since 3/12/09


Seems like ever since there was a driver installed on 03/12/09 there been lots of problems.

I've also realized today because it didn't start 3 times, is that it only work when you hear a dot sound. Then everything loads up. Some kind of mechanical dot.

So should I leave the graphics card out of the situation ? Since I failed the driver update for my graphic's card is my graphic's card driver still normal or could it be corrupted due to an improper update. And if it is due to hardware failure I;m pretty sure im going to hand it in back to the store because I believe that I got warrenty with the store, and year warrenty in parts.

Sometimes I'm not even able to click on anything. It's just empty with no data. What could I do to seek thorugh my computer components and find the problem.

Well, the kind of people who build their own systems are also likely to have a few spare components laying around, so they can troubleshoot hardware by replacing the components one by one.
Or maybe boot into a live Linux


But in your case, I think you should return it to the store if it is stilll under warranty.

Most likely i'm going to head back to the store and return it. If its something internally such as hardware failure then I don't think I could do anything about it. But if something needs to be downloaded to update or upgrade then thats possible to do. I just want to fnd out what it is first before I return it.

It would sure help if you told us what graphics card you have. Just common sense you know.

My Computer is almost at rock bottom, just one step away from it being impossible to start. Safe Mode is messed up aswell. When I start it up, and let it load by itself, takes 5 minutes to load up Windows and put into such poor quality, that it restarts and repeats its process.

sounds to me more then video card driver problem. Seeing as your a beginner you probably don't do much maintenance to your computer, probably do things and go places that are not good for your computer.

If i were having these problems i would be reinstalling my os.

I do clean-ups/disk defragments regularly. Firewall and Anti-Virus on doing checkups weekly and sometimes daily .I don't understand howto control the amount of processes that are running/ the amount of services. I've heard about some kind of black viper site that couldh help me get my stuff together This computer hasn't been over used or overpowered. I've only had BF2 & C&C 3 installed. I've cleaned on the computer on a monthly basis. I don't know what other kind of maintnance I could do to my computer except for looking at temps.

But i've been realizing in my problem report history that some of the windows downloads had failed. The ones that Vista recommends me downloading after I'm done with the computer. Other kinds of maintenances that I could possibly achieve?
