    cooking my video

    Literally, just like it sounds.

I'm going to try this tomorrow.

I have the same laptop + video card + problem. Its an older laptop that was pretty good for gaming back in its day. Then about 5 months out of warranty the video card died. I bought a used 6800 off of ebay because its cheaper and in hopes of getting it running again, and that died months later the same way. Since then I refused to put any more money into it and its just been sitting here. Hopefully this will work!

little update on this, the first card i tried (7800gtx), didnt work. I finally got around to doing the card I bought off of ebay (6800 ultra) and it worked! baked it, put some AS5 on it and its working great.
