These two monitors seem to have the best reviews at this price range, but on the other hand I could be wrong.

No problem. Either of those monitors look good to me, just depends on how much money you want to spend. I don't know that you would really notice the "dynamic contrast" ratio in the Samsung, but I don't really know that much about it. I guess it improves the contrast ratio by dimming the backlights or something.

I would either go with one of the Antec cases or the Thermaltake one. The two that are more expensive are a bit bigger, but you'll have more slots for installing more hardware as well as quite a few more fans. Extra cooling is always nice, but once again, it depends on if you're willing to spend the extra $100 or so. Any of them are good, but I wouldn't go with the coolermaster.

edit: Also don't forget that a bigger case is going to be heavier.

second edit: Also, the coolermaster doesn't look as cool as the other two.

I don't know much about Asus or their monitors, but from the reviews and specs it looks good (better response time, etc) and you get a $20 mail-in rebate! Can't argue with that. :)

I wouldn't say dx11 is worth it really, at this point, but I can't really argue with any of those changes. You are saving money by going with an i5 instead, so you could put more money into the gfx card.

Also, if you're interested in overclocking (I have no idea how well the new intel processors overclock), you might want to look into getting an aftermarket heatsink/fan for the CPU. I wouldn't be one to ask about that since (again) I don't know that much about the intel processors

Would I be creating any bottle-necking by getting the slower processor and a better gfx card?

It isn't that significant of a performance drop and you would still be able to overclock if you had a bottleneck. I would doubt it either way.

I am not very experienced and probably would not want to overclock.

So, would getting the CPU he suggested but not going with a more expensive gfx be a good option? (Since the price went up quite a bit when I considered I'd need Windows 7, a headset or headphones, and possibly something else I've forgotten this minute)

I don't mind spending more money if it makes a significant difference, but if it doesn't affect performance very noticeably then I would rather save the money.
