Upgrading my computer on a Buget, would this be good enough?

I plan on taking it in to the computer shop near me to get my CD rom drive, Motherboard and ram and hard drive transferred to the new case. Would this be possible? Also is this all good for running the latest games? Maybe on mid-high settings with 30-60fps. Right now I mostly play World of Warcraft (free on private server), Red Orchestra and Ill be installing BF2 again to play some mods. Also might buy Empires Total war. Considering all the sales around christmas time and Boxing day after wards (thats what it's called in Canada) I would guess all these products would be cheaper. I estimate my total would be about 280$ at the most.

WOW, BF2 and Red Orchestra will all probably run fine, Empire Total War might run med/high but You will need to give us your full specifications before a clear cut answer can be given

Maybe the fastest way to do that is to go to the website below and pick any game to test it will look up your current specification

either that or go to start > run and type dxdiag it should give you your system specifications

Also check that your motherboard supports the new CPU, you dont want to be making any mistakes on that one

Right now Im on a Dell 5150 with 2GB DDR2 Ram. I don't know exactly what motherboard it is, I just hope it's supported but I doubt. I will have to buy a new motherboard anyway since the Dell one is a BTX motherboard and that won't support the new power supply. It used to have a GeForce 8600 256meg GDDR3 in it but it broke so now I have a 8400 512 meg card in it.

I would carefully check the stated requirements and the output of your PSU before upgrading, especially if you're coming from a pre-built.

So the Dell 5150 has a BTX motherboard, thats not compatible with most power supplies right? Isn't it hard to find a BTX compatible power supply?

Anyway since I might need a new motherboard can someone please help me find a good one, that is compatible with that AMD Quad Core and an Intel processor. There could be some mega sales near and after Christmas so some CPU's could get very cheap. Preferably one under 100$, thanks.

I had the Dimension E510, the mobo was BTX, but the power supply was standard ATX.

The PSU that comes with it definitely won't run a 9800GT though. I think it was something like 305W that mine had.

Ya it has 305W, Im getting confused here, a Dell 5150 can't run a 9800GT right? Even if it had a enough power? I thought all the power supplies on the market ain't compatible with it's motherboard.

It can it just needs enough power and a PCI-E slot

I've just replaced the power supply in a D5000, which is the slightly older version of it. You may have to slightly bend the back of the case for it to fit if you get a Corsair one, but the motherboard connections are fine.

I just hope these products will be a lot cheaper at Christmas, maybe the Intel a I7's would be 100-120 bucks on Boxing day. Would an I7 be compatible with that motherboard?

HIT THE BRAKES! I thought you were just sticking a new GPU in. The 5150 can only take an Intel Pentium 4 (Which is what you already have and is also totally past its sell-by date). You won't be able to upgrade the CPU without a new motherboard and case.

Ya I thought so, Can anyone please help me find a good motherboard on this website? Or newegg. Preferably one that is less than 100 dollars and can run that AMD processor I listed up above or Intel processors (I5, I7).

How much is your total budget?

I guessing your going need a motherboard, cpu, gpu, memory, and a power supply.
