Graphics Card, any ideas?

I'm making a build for mate and I'm totally out of the graphics card market, not sure what is the best value these days so I was hoping you guys could give me a heads up.

Budget is under £200 for the graphics card.

The rest of build is as follows:

Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz Socket LGA1156 8MB
Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz
Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB
ASUS P7P55D iP55 Socket LGA 1156 8 channel audio ATX
Samsung T220 22" TFT Monitor 1680x1050
OCZ StealthXStream 700w Silent PSU
Antec 300
Logitech G5

I'm open to suggestions on the other stuff as well. Motherboard needs onboard LAN and audio. Monitor needs to be 22" or more (and TFT).

I would recommend the ATI 5770, best middle class card by ATI for about 160€, Dx11 and everything you need. :)

Regarding the TFT, I got the 240 version with 24" and I have absolutely no flaws with it, perfectly nice and runs fine.

5770 is slower but has DX11

Yeah I told him to get the 4890. 5770 seemed overpriced, just seems like a bad time to be buying graphics cards in this limbo between DX10/11 but he wanted it now so...

That's what I'd say. Now isn't a good time for buying a new video card, nor is it really needed. Wait until DX11 games are in full swing and prices have dropped to a reasonable amount.

Waiting longer doesn't really have any disadvantages; you can save more money and wait for a time when deals are really good. It can be a better long-term investment, if you ask me.

I did that with my 8800GT and am still getting by with it. I'll probably get a new card sometime in 2010. :)

Anything lower then 58XX or 48XX or 38XX is designed for HTPC's anyway.

I said anything lower then X8XX series is usually designed for HTPC. So yes that would inclued the 4770 and the 5770

Not really. The 5770 is a normal middle-end card of the newest generation. 58XX is high end and 59XX very high end.
