Possible infection with AVKiller

So I might be infected with AVKiller. Probably don't have to explain what that trojan does...

I contacted the Tech Support of my AV program, Panda and they came up with a very complicated solution. So I searched around the Internet a bit and apparently I can just delete a few files and be done with it.

Now my question is: Will that be sufficient enough to effectively kill the trojan? If not, any suggestions on what to do? Or should I just follow the Tech Support solution?

What you want to do is disable the virus and then run a scan with Panda to clean it up.

Here is a link from Symantec on removal, if its the same virus. Antivirus companies do not always call the virus the same thing.

Ok, what I did was just run the file my AV Support gave me, but they did adviced me to run my computer in save mode and stuff. Well.... I didn't do that, but I did run the scan.

I saved the log and send it to my AV Support, hopefully they can make something out of it and confirm if I have a virus or not.

Also Crunch I can't access that page for some reason. So i'm guessing they're saying that I have to disable the process ''spool16.exe''? I searched around some other sites and they say spool16 is the virus/trojan. I looked in my task manager and I couldn't find the process so that's sort of a relief.

Anyway, I hope when you guys read this you can make any sense of it because i'm too tired to think about my words. Sorry :p And i'll keep you posted whether or not I have that virus.

what AV you running?

try spybot?

A trojan is not a virus but it can open its doors to one ,your Av might be blocking it(the page) now for your safety:)

edit: be carefull the process might only show up in 32 bit mode or in safe mode,best to run a cleaner in safe mode because nothing will be automatically backed up

I'm still awaiting the Tech Support's final answer, maybe i'll try some other Anti-Virus programs in the meantime. I heard Avast or something was one of the best and free AVs, should I give it a try?

Rick if you think you have something try Antivir free.It updates daily and by god its strong.

It picks up everything :thumbsup:even some false posatives but its very strong detection:salute:

I usually recomend AVG free
