    Is 850 watt power supply good enough for...

    ...a PC with a 5970? I mean the whole thing not just the card. I want to build gaming PC and on AMD website it say the card uses 650 watts but I am not sure if this is the card alone or the whole PC. Need someone to clarify.

    it basically means you need a minimum of a 650 to run it, not that it takes 650 watts to power it. Yes, a 650 would be good enough for that card but it really depends on what other hardware your running. Your best bet is to use a PSU calculator to figure it out:

      Also, its a huge card! around 35cm(?) I think so make sure its going to fit before you buy one.

        wrong forum but 850 is enuf to power a small suburb in india,so 650 or 700 would be fine,there are calculators out there so you can list all the parts your using too

          the +12V rails are more important than wattage when talking about a single piece of hardware demanding a lot of power, id reccomend at least 47A

            The PSU maker will make a difference also as some can cope with more than whats labeled.
