I've decided to try and build a wireless network for my gaming rig and need a signal to travel about 20 feet through two walls. I'm looking at the DLink Xtreme N Gigabit Router: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833127215

Should I get an adapter based on the pci interface or pci express x1? I'm assuming these work better than usb adapters?

There is another option open for you assuming there are free wall sockets nearby, I live in an old house where some of the walls are 1.5ft thick with solid stone and I needed wireless in my room but the WiFi signal was never enough so I found out about Powerline Networking it basically sends your network signal through your electricity circuit in your home, so Router -> Homeplug(downstairs) -> Homeplug(downstairs/upstairs) -> Console/PC.

You only need to have 1 homeplug with a connection from your router and that will allow you to have multiple homeplugs elsewhere that will share your connection. Its a nice way to host a LAN party from multiple rooms.

There is no lack of signal, speeds are the same as PC.
