XFX 4870 512mb - $125

That is all, only nvidia card at $125 is either the 250gts or the 9800, neither of which compete with the 4870.

It's pointless to get 4870 right now. DX11 is on the horizon. Get a 5850 instead, or wait for 5770 to come out.

Very true. I'm still playing the games I was when I bought my 8800GT (and it was basically on the top in terms of performance/cost ratio at the time) and haven't regretted not upgrading recently at all. :p

You not regretting your 9800gtx? What a rip off of a card that was when you could get a better performing ATI for the same money :p

I bought it for $189 a year ago with $30 MIB and $30 worth of XFX tool kit as gift. That was when 4850 was about the same price. One great thing about this XFX 9800GTX+ is that it runs extremely quiet. It is actually quieter than my case fans.

Also, I love NVIDIA. It just doesn't feel right when I was using 3870. Must.... buy.... NVIDIA.......

Nvidia still has better drivers from what I've heard lately. Ultimately, the difference in performance isn't usually so high that you'll notice a different in just about any game. If I were looking for a new card I'd just go with the cheaper one, I think.

Both sets of drivers are fine. Neither are weak anymore (ATI used to have issues)

Either way, I'd still go with the cheaper between the 9800 and 4870.
