Overclocking

Im looking to overclock my E7200, and i was wondering what after market cooler was the best and whether it is necessary if i'm only going from 2.53ghz to 3ghz.

currently under 5-25% load core 1 is 47'c and core 2 is 37'c.

And im noticing i have speedstep on, if i turn it off and dont overclock, will it cause any problems?.


The only reason im not upgrading to a new processor is because im skint.


if i do get an aftermarket cooler, ill have a max of £20.

Well, those temps are fairly high, however my brother has the same and at 3.2ghz. Basically, look for an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro heatsink. They are fairy ld, but still work fine for mild overclocks. They are dirt cheap as well.

Also, buy a backplate for the cooler instead of using push pins, I found them a nightmare. Any LGA775 backplate should suffice, it just means sawing off the push pins from the AC7 which is easy.

Or get the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 for some more serious stuff.
