Need a new headset

So my good headset just died in the right ear and I need a new pair.

It was a Creative HS-900 and I cannot go back to the two older KOSS headphones I have, they don't sound nearly as good and there's an entire range of higher frequencies that are missing.

So what do you guys use/suggest?

Sure its 150 USD, but it's worth it. I've had it for years and it has never failed me.

Around 80 dollars. Music and gaming. No, but I would prefer a mic.

Also, I prefer cans.

These are very good cans, similar to the HD555's in terms of quality, I use this clip on mic myself:

It's a little over budget, but if it's too much, we'll find you something else.

I use a Plantronics Audio 370 PC Multimedia Headset

I prefer it over their gaming versions because it has an over-the-ear design but still has open-ear qualities. You still have a chance to hear the phone ring without it dampening it's sound performance.
It also has a very nice self adjusting, cushioned headrest. The mic is also fairly good at background noise canceling. And it is far and away the most comfortable headset I have ever had in 20+ years of gaming.

My only critique is the mic boom, which is only semi-flexible and not easily retractable. It also lacks any method of tightening the boom joint so once it wears out it will be resting down near your chin. But the mic performance seems to amply compensate. It picks up voice very well.

You may have to look to find one since it is an older model they do not carry on their site anymore. And sadly they don't have any other products that match the headrest style anymore.


you could try their ".Audio 510 USB Ultimate Performance Headset" ($70). But it is on-the-ear style. I find those to crush your lobes after a while. Their over-the-ear/open-ear designs now are the "Plantronics GameCom 777 Surround Sound Gaming Headset" ($110) and the "Plantronics GameCom 377 Open-Ear Gaming Headset" ($60)

The 777 is Dolby surround sound, the 377 is Stereo. They are both like what I have except they have changed the frame and headrest. (other than the surround sound difference lol)

I agree with Alex's post. For me, I need a desktop mic. According to reviews, the Zalman needs the user to talk louder than some would and that's not me. I'll be getting the Logitech Desk Mic with my D2000 once my Dad throws his shaver parts in the cart.

My Zalman clip on mic just goes on my HD555 wire and I can speak at a normal volume and it works fine.

Be sure to get a mic that makes you sound like a woman, you'll get a bunch more people in your squads that way...

I think Alex has the only good opinion because you say you want them for Music too. The AD700 is the best buy for you at $87 right now. I can't understand the color they chose for them, but if you dislike it enough, I'm sure you can find a way to paint them. :p
