    $60 to spend..

for my birthday my friend wants to get me something and she has a budget of like $50-$60 with $70 being the max. any suggestions for what I should get for my laptop?

i was looking at the Logitech G5 mouse since a bunch of my friends have that already.

and also the Extreme 3D Pro joystick but I'd only use it for BF2 flying.

anything else that would improve my gaming experience on the laptop

G5 and a nice mousemat. That will be the biggest help I think :)

A cloth gaming mat such as QCK pads fold away and are very, very smooth.

Yeah, like what Alex said. G5 is good, and I don't even have a mat.

I would have said Razer Copperhead or the DeathAdder. But you'd have no money for a mouse pad.

I'd go for the MX518 personally, it's cheaper and practically identical to the G5. If you absolutely feel the need to spend all that money go with the G5 then.

Also keep in mind any software or games you might be interested in.

You could preorder the G500 but it's $70.

hmm i think im going with the G5. G500 is pushing the budget too much xDD and the only games i really play is BF2 and Sims 3. my laptop doesnt handle newer games very well.

My dad and I have both had bad luck with Logitech mice, all of our Logitech mice died after 1 year of use.

I'm currently using a Razer Lachesis and have only had minor issues which were easily fixed after a quick search online (fix was posted on their site), I don't know how long it will last though. I also find my current mouse more comfortable than my old MX518.

I'm not sure it works like that. I think this friend wants to give him a gift, not just hand him some cash.

That's just really bad luck or something else is going on. I have an Mx510 that I bought in 2004, an Mx1000 and Mx518 from 2006, and a G5 from 2007. All still work just fine. I've had to buy replacements for the feet on the Mx510 3 times because of all of the Diablo 2 and Battlefield 2 abuse.
I've only had a single Logitech mouse die on me. The left button went out on my first Mx510 about a month after I got it. I called up Logitech support and had a new one at my house in about 2 days with no questions asked.
I can't see a reason for me to buy a mouse from another company, ever.
