Possible to reset password on windows?

I have some files on my old laptop I would like to get off of it. Problem is that I have not used the laptop in over 2 years and have forgotten the password to it. I am surprised the thing still runs tbh, but it boots up fine, but I get stuck at the login because I cannot remember my damn password.

Can this be reset? Or found somehow?

You could put it in an external enclosure and hook it up to another computer. Get your files off of it at least.
Then just boot it off of your recovery disc(s) and reformat it.

Boot a linux live cd (ubuntu) and you can access all the files on the hard drive. then just copy them to a flash drive.
