Building a computer (750 - 800 quid)

Well, I am moving to the UK, and my options are to get a laptop from Singapore, or get a laptop - PC pair once I move to university:

- A laptop only option will be a top end laptop (m1730 or p8662).

- A laptop - PC pair will skimp out on the laptop but build on the PC.

Hence, my budget is around 800 pounds.

I have been using PCSPECIALIST.co.uk (after hearing that OC.co.uk is unrealiable).
And so far, every i7 PC I am trying to build is coming out at 900 - 1000 pounds.

So my questions are:

- Is it even possible to build a 800 pound i7 processor PC (with an ati 4870 as the minimum GPU)?

- Or are there cheaper stores out there? I only know OC and PCSpecialist in the UK...

Not really sure about my conversions (Pound to USD) but probably not. If you already have the case, GPU, power supply, Hard Drive, disk drive, then yes i think you can.

Aha. This is the problem. Newegg doesn't ship to the UK. Now I need to find those prices in the UK when I get there... in 3 months.

Anways, I'll keep a look out. I will need UK members to help me out finding a good store. I know ebuyer.co.uk but I heard they aren't the cheapest.

Ebuyer are very cheap and do free 5 day shipping, i've spent lots with them. I also use Scan who have a slightly better range.

Do you need mouse and keyboard, monitor?

Yes, I will need a keyboard and monitor. But a 19" will suffice.

And that's an amazing list Hellsent, hopefully by September the prices will drop so I can fit a large screen or even an extra card onto that.

G19 is horrible. Costs an absolute ton, has less micro keys, requires external power and the screen is too small to of use practical use and simply pushes up the price. Stick with the G15 IMO.
