E8400 stock temps

Is this normal? I'd expect it to be better with aftermarket cooling.

E8400 C0, stock 3ghz, auto voltage, Coolermaster TX2.

Core 1: 50C

My Phenom 9850 runs cooler than that while doing 4 threads of Prime95 64bit on Thermaltake V1 at 1500RPM.

Unfortunately, I think that something is just not right. I had an E8200 before with anohter Coolermaster 92mm HSF, and it only runs that hot when doing 3.1GHz.

Nope, that's not great. The TX2 isn't a particularly great cooler, but not that bad. I would reseat the CPU cooler using new thermal paste, only a small amount, not too much.

Also, manually set your CPU voltage in the BIOS to the VID in case it's being accidentally over volted.

I set the CPU voltage to 1.01875 in the BIOS.

After 5 minutes of Orthos (small FFTs, no errors):
Max temps
CPUTIN: 50C
Core 0: 51C
Core 1: 43C

Load vcore: .960V
Idle vcore: .976-.984V

The E8400's are renowned for having shoddy/stuck temp sensors..Mine are idle at:

Core0: 37c
Core1: 40/41c

Then on load it goes to 53/54 - 59c

I also have a C0 and stock voltages/clocks and a black TRUE...

Mine's idling at 40/33 right now. The sensors are less accurate the further you get from TJMax.
