Help installing audio drivers on P5Q SE

I've uninstalled the Realtek driver and the KB888111 HD audio drivers in an attempt to fix my microphone. (I left OpenAL installed.)

Now I've reinstalled the Realtek drivers that came with the P5Q from the disk, but now my sound won't work. WMP won't play, beeps come from the mobo instead of the speakers, etc. The Realtek drivers show up in my add/remove programs list though.

I have XP SP3 btw. Do I need to install KB888111 first? Is it compatible with SP3?
    Edit: Apparently it's not.

What was wrong with the mic? You may be having a hardware problem.

Anyway, one thing you can try is to uninstall the realtek software again and go to realteks site and download the newer ones.

See if that works for you.

I know the mic works cause it works on my other computer.

Anyways, I fixed it by installing KB835221 and then the Realtek drivers. Thanks for the help though.
