The new "i5", although they will not be called "i5" are a completely different socket to i7 and therefore the two will not be compatible.

As for these "instant" BF2 loads, that's a load of BS. You can certainly speed them up, but they will never be instant. It requires processing, loading files to the memory and reading from an HD.

If you want fast media, do not get the WD Green disks, they are low speed/low power for HTPC's. If you are serious about music, you wouldn't rip to 320kb/s MP3. You'd either go FLAC, or if you really want MP3's, variable bitrate. If you got a large budget, I wouldn't even consider Creative sound cards. Look at the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude or X-Fi Forte's.

I wouldn't even think about the Antec 900 now. It's old, cramped and poor for wire management. You'd be better with either the 1200 or 900 II.

Lastly, forget Blu-Ray, drives are coming down in price, so wait a little longer and get a decent aftermarket cooler... stock is for nubs...

To the Original Poster. I would pick the G.Skill memory and definately get the i7 920. No need to go higher as the 920 will overclock just as far as any of the non Extreme Edition chips. Get a nice Aftermarket cooler and push that bad boy.

Great selection of parts btw. Be sure to also check out www.newegg.ca for parts. Alot of the parts from Newegg.ca have free shipping and can even be found for less than CanadaComputers.

Shop around and dont be afraid to check out some local PC shops for some good deals.

I'd choose G.Skill RAM due to lower latency.

There is very little point to buy Blu-ray at the moment.

Otherwise good choice of parts. Check various sources for good deals and free shipping.

Oooo Alex you tore me up good man! lol.

Is that right? the about the i5? What about the westmere cpu's? I was more interested in that next line, the 32nm one. Its 6months away I could maybe hold out until then.

As for the music comments, I said 320KBS cuz I'm pretty sure thats the MAX for my ipod to play, unless they have done serious changes since I started buying mp3 players 5-6 yrs ago (use to do them on WMP loseless format but they didnt play on the mp3.)

And thanks for the insight about the other sound card makers, maybe I will look into them then. But if they are too pricey, then I'll prolly stick with creative so I need to know what I need to look for out of it - $$ 50-250 for them and all I see is FATAL1TY signature on the $$ ones.

As for the case, I thought it was ok. I didn't even know nething about a 900 II and I saw the 1200 - looks more like a full tower. I'm not sure if I want a full tower though. I'll look into some more I suppose.

And thanks guys for opinions and thoughts, its always nice to have help hammering the final rig out. I was def leaning towards the G.Skill more so because of the LAT timings and cheaper too but I'm not familiar with the brand name. I have this crap OCZ ram I bought, top of the line crap back when it came out - How I regret it so much... And my PSU by OCZ crapped out too, isn't it funny? I don't like OCZ at all nemore nor EVGA.

And ya, thats what I planned on doing with the 920, get an aftermarket fan for the cpu n OC it, hence the 1600mhz ram to match the cpu hopefully.

Lastly, newegg.ca or ncix or tigerdirect I've checked out in the past and they were always slightly more expensive than canadacomputers. I've always found canadacomputers to be the cheapest and im 10 minutes away from the closest one to me. I'm all ears to cheaper places though, fo sho =)

iPods will play ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec), although there isn't much point as to benefit from it, you'd need a portable amp and some decent speakers. You'd be better with variable bitrate MP3's which have a low kb/s, but are generally better quality.

in that case im willing to bet my 5300+ songs wouldnt fit on my 120gb ipod lol.

With variable bitrate they might, ALAC, not so. Although, quite why you need 5300 songs is beyond me. I used to carry my entire collection, but one day I checked WinAmp for my top 200 most played songs and just put them on...

Same with my player. I used to have the entire collection but after running out of space I checked which songs were most played and put them on there. There is really no use for songs that you never listen to.

I like most of all the songs on my player asides from a few. and right now i only have like 22gb or something used up on my ipod so im not very worried.

and tbh im pretty screwed over on my media libarys ATM. my itunes somehow decided to duplicate every single song on my laptop so half of them dont work and itunes is incredibaly gay, i tried reinstalling it and making a new libary but nooo.. the previous libary was still saved somehow.

and then my WMP libary got fk'd too, apparently I have moved the songs around too many times now and cant even listen to them on my desktop and well lets face it, tiny laptop speakers suck ***.

So now I really only have my ipod working when it comes to music - and i plug her in my escape all the time when im out cruising and sometimes in my sterio and crank it up.

But back to my Rig setup -

You guys dont think I should get the WD green TB Hdds? If not then what do you guys recommend? Should I go and do raid? I dont even know what it means exactly, I've been meaning to go and research it to learn better but have been pressed for time.

Install WinAmp and import your playlist. I had iTunes duplicate everything, but there is an option in WinAmp to "Remove duplicate and dead entries". This will trim it down.

Don't get WD Green as they are low power, low speed and not great desktop drives. Look at the WD black or Samsung 1TB F1 drives, they are fast enough. No point getting RAID for you...
