I don't give suggestion for case and cooler, since I didn't find good deals for those, and case is subject to personal preference when budget is not constraint. My suggestion is to buy case with free shipping, and buy a good cooler from Noctua. All my selections are "Free Shipping." Please note that you must buy case with free shipping fee. Shipping cases aren't cheap.

I forgot to mention: DX11 cards are on the horizon, so it's really not a good time to dough out for big graphics card. Use your 4850 first. If your old Dell needs a graphics card, buy a low-end card with free shipping.
Also, we don't know yet how much you'll pay for DX11 card in the future, or go with 4850 crossfire. So, we don't know yet how much will be left unspent. Thus, use stock cooler initially and decide whether you'll build water cooling or with high performance CPU cooler.
Get Vista Home Premium x64, better in bundle with the case or hard drive which you buy with free shipping. I don't think Ultimate edition worth the additional $75. There are better ways to spend it.

I didn't go combo with Corsair PSU because the Lian Li cases are, although should be good, still over priced.
As for the power supply, I'd go with the Corsair HX850W instead of the TX850. Both units are OEM Channelwell. The difference is, the TX850 is built on the long-in-the tooth PSH platform, while the HX850 is built on the newer DSG Platform. The newer platform regulates better, has less output ripple and is more efficient.
Another choice for you would be the Antec Signature Series SG850. It is very expensive, but is the best unit in the market. (OEM Delta).
Now, don't quote me on this, but from what I've seen/heard, Direct3D 11 can run on DirectX 10 hardware.
Of course, this is all what I've 'heard', and there's not a lot of info Microsoft has released to end users yet, so I wouldn't make any drastic changes in plan based on my post, were I you.
reasons being you may ask? I made the mistake two years ago and I'm plagued with problems/issues with my rig today.
My advice to you is, get an Intel Mobo (like asus/gigabyte or something, not nvidia aka evga/xfx/bfg n w/e other names they got now)
As for the ram, look at the voltages and speeds your gonna be running it at and look at the heatsinks on those things - they are not made to last at all. I cant even run mine @ stock settings nemore, they are so junk. Get some ram with a heatsink on them, sure it may cost more but at least you know the d@nm thing will run properly.
Also I don't know why they picked out the 260 in SLI mode, just get a radeon 4870x2 if you're dead serious about a killer rig and later on you can buy another 4870x2 if you really wanted and go into crossfire. Bytheway, crossfire is more efficient than SLI so thats another reason to buy ATI.
Not to mention, last time I checked - the 4870x2 beats nvidia.
but if you're like me and want to cut a few corners, get the 4890 - its basically an overclocked 4870 for not much more.
And for a case - I recommends antec 900/ antec 900 two/ antec 1200

oya, dont forget to get a soundcard - whats the sense of having all the raw power and eye candy without the music of people dieing and shlt exploding the way its meant to be? if you want to get some mid range, get a creative X-fi blaster xtreme gamer card or something - im not sure what they call them now nemore - im kinda in the process of selecting one out myself right now for my next rig
I run OCZ Flex modules (DDR2). No problems clocking it up to 1200MHz DDR. Spending tons of money on RAM makes no sense these days as limitations are with the CPU (FSB/QPI) and not with the RAM.
Performance depends on the chips on the RAM. Almost all popular manufactures use the same PCB (Brainpower) and similar chips (Samsung, Micron, Hynix or Elpida). Higher priced RAM is binned a bit better but no big deal. You won't see any noticeable performance improvement with games or apps. If you are into benching, then definitely yes, if not...don't think too hard. Just go with a company that has a good warranty (Corsair, OCZ, Patriot and Kingston).
Ok so maybe I overshot a bit but the fact is still true, there is no real heatsink on the ram selected. For 20-50 bucks more you get ram with a heatsink on it - something you should be considering seriously if you plan on playing more than an hour.
As for the Nvidia mobos, I highly regret not listening to Alex 2 years ago. he was right, I should have gone with the asus p5q delux back then, not the 680i by evga and today those issues with the 680i have surfaced with no solution.
product opinions do matter, and sorry this isn't something thats 12 years ago - its with in the last 2 years - with the launch of the C2D and in my books thats very good reference towards how a companys products are today now.
So personally, yes I would love to hear how some peoples components have died in there rigs recently and what the brand maker was and whether or not they had warranty coverage on that item and how they were treated - because that is what ultimately wins customer support for companys.
but dont listen to me, because im just another person who had a similiar setup and had big problems a year or two down the road.
