New southbridge cooler or motherboard.

The southbridge fan on my XFX 680iLT motherboard has packed up, which means the temps are a bit high.
I noticed the increase in temps so had a dust, but then when turned on teh fan wasnt spinning at all.

I contacted XFX via the suport ticket system and although they were quick to respond and helpful, they could not supply me with a replacement fan and told me to contact teh re seller, which i am in teh process of doing. but i dont think they will be any better ( i think its overclockers.net but need to find teh reciept as it might be dabs.com)

So now i ithink ihave 3 options
Keep running it till it inevitably fries possibly wiping out my system.

Buy a replacement southbridge cooler ( any suggestions?)

Get a new motherboard (a better one wont be hard to get, any suggestions)

So what would the wise people of TGN suggest?

If you really want to upgrade, get an i7 920 before Intel phase it out.

Otherwise, this motherboard isn't worth fixing to its original state. If you can take the fan out and replace it with a cheap one, do it. If you need to take out the entire southbridge heatsink, then you probably need to look for an after market one.

An i7 upgrade is far too expensive.

Thanks alex i'll check the height of the space tomorow and then get one ordered if it fits, i have no window so no point getting a coloured one.

its a bit m ore pricey but i would see if this will fit. Im using a similar one on my northbridge and its well badass



you dont need a fan btw i just have one anyway cuz im cool like that :p
