cant use voice in Left 4 Dead

there is like 4 guests in the L4D section so i rather post here.

dont know why but im unable to use the voice in L4D, it works with other valve games, i know 100% the mic works, it works with steam chat and in the steam setting it works properly, but when i turn on L4D its broken and cant fix it, this is what i get.

as you can see i cant "test" it and switching from push to talk to open mic doesnt help.

    any ideas? thanks in advance.

It's probably trying to use 'stereo input' as your L4D 'mic' - is your mic set as default input device in Control Panel > Sounds?

If it is, maybe look in the L4D config and see if you can change the setting in there? Although I'm not sure where the L4D config is stored...

Have you done the set microphone as default thing in Sounds?

You should have the sound icon in the bottom right corner, if not go to Control Panel > Sounds

Then go to the "Recording" tab, and right click on your microphone and set it as default... also check the "Properties" for it, check "Advanced" tab -> It should show a "Default Format" part, select "1 Channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)" and see if that works.

Since in WaW, it wouldn't allow more then 16 bits for the ingame sound, so it might be similar for L4D with microphones...
