    Something is dying...

Lately i've been seeing alot of strange graphical glitches in my games. Some yeilding interesting screenshots..

But now these issues have spread to outside of just my games, infecting everything with peculiar green and purple dots.

    I'm assuming this is a graphics card issue. (I'm running a 8800GT 512mb, Driver ver. 6.14.11.8208)
So far i've turned up all the fans on my Antec 600, it sounds like a jet but it sure is cool in there now! So i think i can rule out overheating problems.
Later i plan on completely removing the card and trying an old 7600GT i have lying around.

If the card needs replacing i'm not too bothered as i'm planning on upgrading to a GTX in July.

I'll report in later, Please help me TGN!

    Re: Something is dying...

First off wth is an Antec 600? Secondly it most probably is overheating, try clearing it of any dust, apprantly the 8800gt single slot is quit prone to overheating or the fan dying...

Take a look at this guide:
Homepage for Total Gaming Network and CS-Nation. Get the latest video game news, previews, and reviews on a daily basis.

I had use to have a couple of 8800GT's running, and they got clogged up quicker than you could start your game...

If you dont want to take the whole card apart, you can just take the outter casing off and wack the hoover out!

          EPIC FAIL

So i went ahead down to the shops got me some Thermal paste and a solution to clean the old stuff off with and skipped back singing falalala.

I dived straight into my case (grounding myself first of-course!) and removed my card. Unscrewing the cooler (It had fancey half screw half spring thingys, i was astounded.) was strangely eventless yet it still gets a whole sentence to itself in this post! I clean off the old paste and applied the new paste as instructed; knowing the advice given was well founded having come across similar guides in the past. I vacuumed out the heatsink and re-attached the cooler. Placed it back in the case and hit the POWER.
The pc replied by screaming at me like a little girl.
          "That's not good" i commented.
A quick realisation, i had forgot to plug the power back into the card. :dead:
So that problem rectified i hit the POWER a second time, post screens were as normal but with even more green and purple invaders!!
My PC contined chugging on and eventually i was in windows, still with more dots than before. I loaded up everest and took a look at my GPU temp, it was at a chilly 55 which is much better than before!

So still unsure of what was happening, better temperature, but still the dots. My friends, i think overheating was not the problem.

Anyway I hit my hotkey to load up World of No-Life, i do have a raid in afew hours! (Un)fortunately my eyes were greeted by the one, the only, Blue screen of death! Text on the screen reported as i would have expected, Nv4_disp.dll.

Anyway i booted once more; maybe it was just bad luck?

Before i had even reached Windows old bluey struck again. Nv4_disp.dll.

So i trotted up to my room, searched some draws and found my old 7600gt.

I'm currently running on that right now and everything is well. I'm scared to run any games, i do not wish to see my FPS so low. :shakehead:

Sorry for murdering, grammar, punctuation and the whole english language in this post. I am a naitive.

                  2year warranty me thinks.

RMA should get you maybe a 250? 260 if your lucky
