i would definitely think here when you are looking into the fine details of being able to flawlessly shoot and kill enemies in bf2142 your hardware is going to make a difference and that there is improvement to be had going from a q8200 to something slightly higher end
Probably. The game runs fine on Opterons, Athlons and Pentium chips, it was designed for them. Only the really low end models would suffer (especially if it had to process audio as well).

If you miss at 60 FPS then you will also miss at 300 FPS.
My own opteron 939 can still run todays games like COD4 and Left4Dead, and it had abolutley no problems running BF2142. After all, its a game made for 2006 hardware

Right. 60 Frames Per Second is essentially the cutoff point at which you stop noticing improved smoothness compared to higher frame rates. There's virtually no decipherable difference, and even if there is some noticeable change, it's not enough to suddenly improve your playing.

Also: BF2142 = serverside hit detection. So no matter how smooth you think your aiming is, in reality you are handicapped by the servers ping.

Playing BF2142 on an i7 may feel nice, but you are just kidding yourself if you think it improves the hit detection.

your monitor run s at 60Hz i presume? which means it refreshes the image 60 times per second so say what you liek about wether more than 60fps makes a difference the fact of the matter is if you capped your max fps at 60 you wouldnt notice any difference

                i disagree.

HAve you tried playing cod4 at 60fps and then playing it at 250fps?? DO YOU NOT NOTICE A DIFFERENCE THERE?

Everybodys ping. Regardless of how many FPS you can pull, you will only be seeing an estimation of players movement and placement. So if you are having high ping this estimation will be more off, causing you to aim at the wrong positions.

If you read Abs0lute_Zeros post you will see that he claims to have no problem keeping the crosshair on the target, but the hits doesn't register.
That is a typical symptom of high ping, tell us how better FPS is going to change that?

Not considering the abilities of your eyes at all, most LCD monitors aren't capable of displaying more than ~100 frames per second anyways, depending on your monitor's response rate. CRT monitors cannot display higher frame rates than the refresh rate you're running at.

So even if there is a difference at 60 frames per second, there's not going to be one at 100 frames per second.

And that doesn't take into consideration things like persistence of vision. I know from personal experience that I can't really see any difference between 70 and 80 FPS, or anything beyond that. I imagine you don't have any such superhuman vision that allows you to see the difference accurately between 200 FPS and 250 FPS.

Dude I have the same problem and both my pc and internet are more than enough, I aim the dot directly on a target and shoot in small bursts, by the time I have got 10-30% damage he's all p!ssed off that I have interrupted him, turns around and mows me down quicker than a fat kid on a snickers bar. The servers I play on I usually get between 20-70 ping.. I think we are just sh*t xD

I'm going to echo some here. Your PC is fine, the guy making the recommendations is wrong. It is either an issue with your own network or your isp.
