    WMP 10 - No sound

First off I'd like to say that I've upgraded (finally) to a corsair 450vx and HIS 4830. Improvements were made, but as some of you suggested, my cpu seems to be bottlenecking. Thats for another year I guess.

I apologize if im not to-the-point, but I have to make a point.

My computer doesnt seem to work. Frequent error messages containing screens I've never seen, words I've never heard of, and referencing to "FATs" have made me immune to being bothered. Now that I realize it, I see something new every time I boot up my computer. It's as if Microsoft spent more time making error messages than they do fixing the errors themself.

Well here's one that does bother me.

No sound from wmp 10. Yes its plugged in. Yes its unmuted. And yes, sound works for everything else. Tried reinstalling, but I get a message saying I have a newer version of it. Tried deleting, but It didnt allow me.

The last time I recall it working was before I downloaded the latest updates from microsoft (the yellow shield that appears in the taskbar).

I've looked on google but nobody seems to have a solution, besides the ones that forgot to plug their computer in.

Anyway, I'd be very impressed if someone had a solution to this problem. I'd be even more impressed if someone had a solution to Windows.

If worst comes to worst, then I'll either employ a computer guru to keep my pc in running order, or buy a useless mac :dead:.

The FAT is your file allocation table. I can't remember if NTFS has one or whether it's just FAT32. But, it sounds like it's becoming corrupt. I would either reinstall Windows fully, or Google a way to rebuild the FAT.

I can't really help you with errors, though format would be your best option from what I can see.

For your WMP 10 issues, are the visualisations for music in WMP working? Tried both movies and music? Got the latest codecs from MS/3rd parties?

picture with no sound, or the other way around are usually codec problems. I would suggest installing the KLite codec pack (standard or full). that gives you all the codecs you need, plus comes with media player classic which you can choose to use as an alternative to wmp.
