Buying a new laptop

So ive decided i need a new laptop and would like to know where to look. I have a few months to decide so i just need to know places, not specific models Ex. alienware not alienware mx1500 or w/e they have. Here is what im looking for:

Under 1200 US dollars before shipping
2gb RAM*
320GB storage*
Nvidia 8xxx (Just need it to decently play games)*
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.x Ghz*
Windows Vista Home Premium x32 (Dont feel like messing with x64)

* = This is a minimum and if possible would like to be higher.

Basically i need this for school plus gaming, and im not gonna be able to take my desktop (I technically didnt pay for it )

I bought my uni laptop off of Sager for 1400 but the one above is 800 USD pretty good spec too.

First off you are a damn fool if you want to game on x32... x64 is the most stable OS on the planet.

I bought my laptop through these guys (XoticPC). They are top notch in customer service. Call them up and have a chat or email them. They are always right on the ball. During my email sessions, I went thru 7-8 emails back an forth each day with pre-sale questions. No automated responses. Top notch service.

Even free of charge fixed a little hiccup with my order. I accidentally selected 2x1GB dims of DDR3, I meant for 1x2GB dims so I could add my own DIM for 4GB. The sent out a 2GB dim of Patriot 1066mhz DDR3 Laptop memory free of charge to help out my mistake.

Try and look for laptops with AMD's new 48xx mobile chipsets. Apparently they are very good!

I tried opening the Sager web but gateway timed out, Sager is a good company i bout my NP2092 from them.

Cyberpower aint half bad as well as its under your budget. I want to know just what games will you be playing on your laptop?

My laptop i use it mainly for LAN, i lay CoH with my mates and CS1.6/source and a few other games. So if you plan on playing easygoing games than that sager suggested above is fine as well as with what alex said i pretty much support that.

I just want to know Bacon is this laptop, you said school and gaming, what kind of gaming?

Hmmm, Ill be playing Left 4 Dead, SupCom, CoH, and TF2 primarily. Others like Half life 2 Ep 3 and Prototype when they come out

Yeah i don't think a 96GT would do, get more or less like what [3MIB]1FD|WO3.HIVictim pointed out or a good HD4850 laptop would do. Idk but i think you might need to shell out a few more bucks not sure though you will have to visit the SAGER website, it doesn't go on my laptop for some stupid error.

Supcom is very CPU demanding, any anyone who claims there is no difference between an AMD cpu at 3.0 and an intel CPU at 3.0. They are majorly mistaken. It is very clear in a game like Supreme Commander that pushes a CPU to its limit.

So my advice. Get a nice laptop with a great Intel CPU.

Another thing. Don't get caught up into the whole 5400 vs 7200 RPM laptop drives. Believe it or not, most 5400 drives outperform the 7200RPM drives. The ones that don't, the difference is so small that it doesn't justify any kind of price difference. So save some bucks and get a 5400RPM drive. :thumbsup:

^ i support that Intel over AMD cpu as well as better to save a few more $$$ prior to purchasing a laptop.
