Help Plz... it wont start

Ok, this morning i started my pc but right when i started it i forgot to go into bios, so i restarted by pressing the restart button. I went in the bios because my ram was at 800mhz when it can run at 1066, so a little birdy told me to take the voltage up just alittle and it should be fine. So i took the voltage up .05 which made to go from 1.85 --> 1.9. I then saved the settings and and restarted. Once i restarted the computer froze when i got past the bios screen. so i manual restarted and now nothing comes on, my moniter, or mouse (in a usb port) will come on.

PLz help...

You might need to clear your CMOS if its being difficult. There should be a jumper somewhere on the mobo if not then take the battery out and unplug the computer from the mains for 5 mins.

ok i got it to work and i changed my memory back to 800mhz... i just took it out and checked all the power connections then it worked woot woot

Or unplug the computer first, then take the battery out. Just to clarify. Because the way you put it looks like the other way around. I know what you meant, but there was a guy on here not too long ago who took things way too literally and screwed up his computer, if he was telling the truth...

Sometimes when a computer wont work you need to unplug it all and let the capacitors drain. Failing that, clearing the CMOS usually fixes non-booting.

Or unplug the computer first, then take the battery out. Just to clarify. Because the way you put it looks like the other way around. I know what you meant, but there was a guy on here not too long ago who took things way too literally and screwed up his computer, if he was telling the truth...

He wasn't has has been banned from the boards a couple times since then coming back and making the same trolling posts on different subjects and different names.

Well, there is usually a jumper clearly labelled CMOS, sometimes CLR_CR or CLR_CMOS.

On older boards, it requires you removing the small onboard battery for an hour or two.

Even so, I've seen people with soda cans resting in their ROM drive trays. Most people that ignorant probably wouldn't end up on a site like this, but you never know...

Also an easier way to clear CMOS, this should work I do this if mine doesnt boot as the CLR CMOS jumper is under my gfx card, all you gotsa do is turn off PC, unplug power supply, remove the battery and hold down the power button for 10 secs, then put battery back in and plug in and start up...

I'm not sure if holding down the power button would really do anything, since the battery is only used for CMOS. When you press the power button, the motherboard makes a short between a green and black wire on the Motherboard power connector, which causes the Power Supply to activate, which then sends enough power to the hardware for the PC to start turning on. From there, the CPU loads it's initial instructions from the Flash memory on which the BIOS is stored on, and then the BIOS starts loading settings and information from CMOS. If the power supply isn't connected, it won't make it as far as CMOS.

Its not a 'short' unless its an error or forced short (even then its a deliberate error), what it is; is completing the circuit. When you do hold the power button down without the PSU connected it completes the circuit and drains the capacitors which means the cmos has no power to keep the bios preferences stored on it.

Also im pretty sure PSUs send some voltage down the 3 and/or 5v rails even when switched off as most mobos have an LED which stays lit even when the comp is switched off.
