Slight problem in changing processor

Hi guys,

Well i changed my procs today from the e6750 to e8400. The problem is that i do not get any display once the e8400 is in, but when i put the e6750 the display comes back.

My motherboard is an ABIT-IP35-E it is supposed to be compatible.

Okay i did some googling around and found out that since the 8400 C2D is a different architecture than the 6750 C2D then i need to flash/Update my BIOS is that correct so i could get on with it?

Yeah, put your old proc back in, flash the BIOS, then put the new one in.

Okay slight has moved to major, my mobo seems to not be compatible? i dunno but i keep getting this isass.exe and keeps restarting by itself AND my Xigmatek fan is tooo huge that my side fan has to be taken out of the antec, i am going to put my AC7 back in tomorrow as for the procs, a new mobo maybe?

isass.exe is a worm/sasser virus. Your ip35 is compatible with your new chip. Hell, even 90% of p965 boards are. You need to upgrade your BIOS, clear CMOS and then put in the new CPU.

lsass on the other hand is safe!

I don't know what you did to flash your BIOS, but whatever you did was wrong, because you've ended up with Sasser.

Abit IP35 boards dont work with 45nm... i said this about 4-5 times on these forums now, including a thread started by Eagle!
I checked very thoroughly through forums and even tried one on my mobo when my housematr got his new PC... just not compatible even with the most recent bios and now that abit have liquified your totally out of luck.

Abit never updated their website and i dunno why the ppl on toms are saying that but they never managed to resolve the problem with the temp sensor reading massively incorrect values. Meant the computer kept thermal throttling if it would even boot at all. Mine wouldnt boot with one (and im pretty sure im using most recent bios) and your having problems not quite sure how much more evidence you need.

Some people are super super lucky and they manage to get it to work bu it doesnt look like your going to be one of them. I hope you prove me wrng sincerely i do, but be prepared for an i told you so :p

Alright i give up, today i put back my AC7 Pro, and my E6750 back i dont mind waiting for a new mobo as long as its efficient, good, branded, and cheap. ANd i totally cant believe the xigmatek scorpion i bought lol it wouldent let me close my antec with the side fan still in there.

If he is overclocking the CPU, I agree. If not, he should keep the fan on the video card.
