Anyone ever used these?

I'm looking to part with a little cash and want some Sennheiser HD555's

I'll be playing FLAC/320kb/s MP3 with WinAmp (ASIO plugin) direct to my Asus Xonar D2 and also for use on my iPod Touch 16gb.

Anyone have experience of these headphones? They are to replace my PC151's.

Iv used them, mate of mine uses them for making music with ableton live etc and i tried them out at his house. They are fantastic really are great headphones. At that price its a winner :)
When i have got some cash coming in i will probs get some myself so i dont have to carry my DTs around everywhere with me.

Are they comfortable. I had some Speedlink Medusa's once and i hated them beyond belief. So uncomfortable!

Hard for me to say i mean you might have giant elephant ears and devils horns or something but i found them comfortable :p

I'm of a fairly slight build so i don't really want something huge and hulking on my head! But, i have nice ears :wee:

Well they are rather bulky headphones as they completely cover your ears nice arty photo to illustrate it lol.
I have always preferred soft felty material over faux leather for big headphones i find it much more comfy if your wearing them for extended periods as they dont get greasy and sweaty. They are a bugger to clean though :/

Not to get off topic, but why are you using ASIO for listening to music? The whole point of ASIO is to deliver a low-latency interface by bypassing the many layers of the Windows Audio Stack and linking the application directly to the hardware. If you're just listening to music, latency doesn't matter, so you get none of ASIO's benefits and all of it's drawbacks.

Some claim it improves quality as it bypasses the Windows mixer. To be honest, i don't notice a difference, but it doesn't impede me in any other way, so i'll just leave it.

Your ears aren't deceiving you. There shouldn't really be any difference in quality. I don't know about you, but if I try and start the ASIO interface while something else is using Line-In or Line-Out, it won't be able to initialize for that hardware interface. Also, once initialized, nothing else can use that hardware interface until ASIO is done. Example, if I want to start an ASIO application while I have a Youtube video open, it won't work. If I go to start youtube while an ASIO application is open, it won't work.

I don't get that issue at all? I did however have that issue with WASAPI which allows an aplication to take full control of my device.
