HD 4870 Overclocking Help

I am new to overclocking and stuff and i wanted to know how to overclock my gpu? I have looked and a lot of people said use Riva tuner but i dont have any i dea what to do with it... Any help would appreciated. Thanks in advanced. :)

Yea, you want Rivatuner and ATI Tool 0.27 beta 4.

You can also use Catalyst Control Centre.

Uhh... overclock with Rivatuner, stress test with ATI tool.

To me it seems that graphic cards are not worth the over clocking....I see no diffrence in my games at all with by OCD 4870

ye i tried it overclocked and i didnt see a difference so i just put it back to stock

You're not going to see much difference unless the card is really under stress and performing <30fps, only then will there be a visual difference.

You can try benching otherwise.

ye in 3dmark06 i got like 500 more points but to me it is not really worth it

same here i got about 500 more points but i had some wierd issues with rivatuner not letting me set the core clock higher than 760... still pretty good from the 675 it came at and 576 that NVidia sets them at. I got the shaders up to about 1520 and the memory at just below 2400.

Mines a GTX not a 4870 tho

i figured out why i couldnt get the core any higher, i needed to bump the shaders up a bit further and it let me put in a bit more... tbh i didnt think the shaders would go any higher without getting artifacts but it seems fine :)
