Weird Pixel Blocks

Hey, i just recently (last thursday) got a new Gcard and PSU, all seemed to work great, play every game maxed graphics and such.. but i noticed on more then one game (CoD4,LOTRO,F.E.A.R2) that i get odd pixel blocks showing every now and then...



(Can Be seen next to the Griffin Fella's Head and above the health bar)

Is this something that i should be worried about? maybe as the shop to replace the Gcard?

its sat into the motherboard perfectly and i have all the latest drivers. :dead:

i see what you mean that is a bit odd and i cant recall ever seeing it before.

If you want to stress test your graphics card to make sure its ok then you can run something called Furmark. If the card is faulty the test is likely to report back with a number of artifacts or something. Not sure exactly i have never used it myself :/

Used the Furmakr programme and as the temp steadily rose i began to notice more and more blocks of pixels... i think it rose to 87 Degree C then the screen went black and restarted... so im guessing its due to Overheating?

87c isn't overheating, thermotrip will kick in about 110c.

What PSU did you buy? I wonder whether you got a budget one and it's not supplying what is says it will.

ill find the make and model later, it came to £40 and its a 700 watt... would the PSU cause something like that?

Oh lord, £40 for a 700W. We have found your problem.

Poor quality power output definitely causes these issues. Everyone will tell you that the PSU is the most important part of a computer because it has the ability to break every component in your pc.

nah its not overclocked

i was going to buy the one biscuit recommended in the other thread but it was only a 20+4 pin, and i needed a 24+4 pin PSU.

now, atm where i stand is abit on the short side for cash, but obviously don't want to ruin my Comp due to a PoS PSU...

know where i can get a decent quality PSU that will do the job but abit cheap... (id say bout £50-£70?)

It's okay, i think it's mediocre in terms of quality, but i'm sure it would do. Corsair would be better.

I'm 95% sure it's the PSU.

When the PSU says 20+4 it means it has a 20pin for oldeer motherboards and then a little extra bit which attaches to it to give the 24

This is your motherboard yes?
From what i can see the motherboard adaptor is a normal 24pin one so the PSU i suggested b4 would have been fine.
Whilst its nice to have a 500+ watt psu as it will keep you safe should you buy much more power hungry parts, you would be fine with the 450W corsair.

Iv used the earthwatts 430w PSU on a build with the 4850 before (Piemans PC) whit no issues what so ever.

yo get the vx corsair..thats what i got, and its way better then my premium power supp i had before even.
