mouse not working?

Ok so last night my pc is running all fine and dandy and I boot'er up today to find my mouse is not responding at all.

I tried taking it out of the usb port in my G11 keyboard and plugging it into the usb extension cable i had running to my keyboard but no change. I use a G5 laser mouse and there are some leds that light up on it when it is powered, these lights were on in both cases.

Then I was like o wtf? dead laser mouse? lets try the laptop and what do you know, it works fine. Go back to pc and its not working, wtf is going on here?

My original thought was the drivers got corrupted or something but it shouldn't make a difference because the drivers for the G5 just let you config buttons and change dpi settings, nothing else.

But I guess in the meantime I will dl the latest setpoint drivers again and reinstall for shlts n giggles and try another usb port for the hell of it.

Also I am getting a desk read error on boot up now, I have to hit a key to restart the boot up but when I do thats it just goes to the windows loading screen then, like should it not go to POST first if its doing a reboot on disk error??

Ok So I tried putting my mouse in another usb port on the front of my pc and still no go. I then tried using another G5 mouse I have laying around (broken dpi switch button) and it too didn't work.

And I just ran downstaires to borrow my moms asus mouse and that one is working.. I don't get it. My pc suddenly hates logitech?

I am still dling the driver..

Ok so I knew it would be a waste of time but did it neways.

uninstalled setpoint drivers, downloaded and upgrade to latest setpoint drivers - still no go.

Im out of ideas. what now?

I went back into my BIOS settings and reloaded defualts settings + I unplugged my xbox 360 wireless controller from the pc and suddenly my logitech mouse started to work again.

Then I was doing some research and found that my BIOS is bugged a lot so I flashed it.

I reboot to find my mouse is not working again, and I had the xbox controller plugged in once again. So after some problem solving I tried booting with and with out the wireless receiver pluged into the computer and have determined that the problem is my xbox controller.

Now, why is it that my xbox controller and laser mouse are not getting along anymore? Niether had problems for half a week and suddenly today they hate each other? What gives?

The Xbox controller was not working either today when I tried to go into GTA4 I noticed. hmm.

So I dont get it, I spent 3-4 hours on this only to come up with the conclusion that my hardware is tempermental.

I can not tell you WHY its doing it, but WHAT is doing it is there is a resource conflict that has started on your machine with the XBox controller and the mouse. Its using some IRQ or memory spot that the other needs to work.

Maybe with that knowledge you can do a little googling to find the exact cause.

Its a little strange because all those devices are plug and play and I havent seen a resource conflict like that in years.
