screen resolution changing

ok in any game that i try to change the screen resolution it does not stretch to full screen i dont know if it is a setting i am missing or what... but when i put set optimal settings it goes to a lower resolution than what i want but it is full screen.

any help would be much appricated as this is fustrating.


PS: it is mainly for the cod games and i have a hd 4870 1gb

Set the ratio, probably 16:9 or 16:10.

I don't have an AMD card installed in any of my computers, but I'm pretty sure you need to set the scaling mode. If your monitor doesn't automatically scale a lower resolution to fill the screen, you have to set it in your graphics drivers to have the GPU do it.

where do i set the ratio? in game or in CCC?

Or, if it does have to do with GPU scaling vs monitor scaling, you could do this in CCC:
Digital Panel Properties -> Image Scaling
Then select "Scale image to full panel size."

At least that's what works with my old X1300 I dropped in my spare computer...

i just got a new PC and it has never work just with default settings in game

Did you install the drivers for your monitor?
If not, that could be your problem with scaling.

Use Windows update. Make sure it is 100% up to date. A lot of manufacturers have microsoft install the drivers for them through windows update. Make sure to check the optional updates for your monitor drivers.
