Virus Help?

I have two programs constantly popping up and telling me my computer's infected even though I just used MBAM http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php.

They are called VirusRemover2008 and Antivirus Agent Pro. From googling around and their incessant presence warning me of malware that doesn't exist according to MBAM, I believe they are tricky viruses somehow disguising their presence from MBAM. Does anyone know of a free program other than MBAM that can rid these pests from my computer?

TL DR- Need reputable, yet free antivirus program other than MBAM

Try SUPERAntiSpyware and a-squared free.

Also download HijackThis and post your log.

Spybot - Search and destroy.

Also make sure MBAM is fully up-to-date.

if it's a virus, comodo has a top of the line virus scan (they also provide a firewall and a standalone spyware product called Boclean for free that is supposed to be fairly good. It was a headache for me, personally though. The firewall and av are very good, though.

avast and avg are also good, free virus scanners, and i think avast includes a spyware module.

I currently use avast and windoze firewall. Haven't gotten around to putting the comodo package back on yet after a recent fresh XP install. good luck.

AVG is horrible. Throw avast! on there, remove anyother antivirus programs you have, Norton, AVG, Macfree etc, anti spywear like SuperAntiSpywear, MBAM is ok to have with it. Then fire up a boot time scan; http://www.digitalred.com/avast-boot-time.php

I threw avast! on my computer, but it doesn't label Antivirus Agent Pro as a virus. However, Virus remover 2008 disappeared.

I guess I could be wrong about this program, but it is annoying as hell and it plays this screeching sound when it pops up.

When I try to manually delete it, it says access denied. Make sure the file is not in use or full or write-protected.

Do you guys know any way to manually get this thing off? I'm sure I didn't install it and I certainly don't need another antivirus program.

Edit: I won. Thanks for your help guys. I didn't actually use some of it, but it inspired me with a way to circumvent the program that should have been obvious from the start. Thanks again!

use a safe boot and then try and delete?

i.e., hold f8 down during the boot process and only load minimal components. also kill it in msconfig, both in the startup and services (be careful here) tabs.

start-->run-->msconfig-->enter see tabs...

If safe mode don't work make a Linux or Windows boot CD and take it out that way. :)
