Facebook help :(

Hey guys,


I dont spend much time on facebook other than to add photos. I recently encountered some facebook hack (first time in my life) and this @$$^&& has been sending messages from my account to people in my contact list, this message says "Have a nice weekend" and a link posted near it which is malicious and it infected my PC this thread is the virus i got.

What i want to know is how to stop this. ( i already changed my password for facebook.)

Check that the e-mail address associated with facebook is yours too, he might have changed it to his. Removed all applications that aren't essential for you, possibly could have got to your account that way as most apps have access to your friends etc.

maybe something to do with the fact you had some malwre on the other week? i would double check your system is clean and go around changing all your passwords.

My friend has this problem to. However, it is a remote issue. He formatted his computer and it still sent messages with fake Facebook links in via MSN.

Change all your passwords, now!

Everything that u may have logged onto recently that the guy might have been able to get the password for. Paypal, banks, forums, e-mail etc

i'd add one more suggestion:

make your critical (financial, scholastic, government) logins very different from your personal info advertisement pages (facebook, myspace, etc.) if you're into using personal info broadcasting sites.

in fact, you should break up your passwords and logins as much as possible--some folks use the same login/password for paypal as they do their webmail (argh, big no-no!), which is the same they use to check their "social" networking pages...

social networking (personal info broadcast) sites are treasure troves for identity theives as it is. best not give them more info than necessary to maintain your social interwibbling.

My email account is the biggest thing for me, incorporating 3 different account that cover personal, work, and everything else. Although having three account rolled into one could be seen as a security risk my password is pretty complex and comprises of a word 8 letters long spelt alphanumerically with some caps, a number 9 letters long the word and the number being interlaced. This password is unique to my email account. Then on gaming forums I use one password, on social sites I use a mixture of passwords, also on government sites i use a mixture of passwords.

The biggest issue on my system is the fact I only occasionally run a virus scan, so if I were to have anything on the system no matter how sophisticated the passwords were i would still pretty much be left open.

Now for a fix on facebook, I would first contact their support team and if they were unable to help you out the only other option you would have is to close the account down and open a new one .

well no messages have been sent recently from my FB account, and i have changed passwords in all purchase websites (ebuyer and the likes). ANd i would like to than all that helped it is greatly appreciated
