My last opinion on the matter is that you can keep buying whatever floats your boat, but unless you overclock that processor, you wont see any difference between a 9800GTX+ and a GTX295. Your CPU bottleneck will be extreme. There is no way around a CPU bottleneck other than to overclock the CPU.

My GTX295 is bottlenecked on my rig, and my CPU is running at 4.22Ghz. Its ridiculous, but just the way things are.

I plan to do so. And this GPU isnt for just a little amount of time, its for maybe a year and a half (my current GPUs lifespan). So when i do upgrade my CPU why not have it be able to fully utilize my GPU then...

Well what do you plan to upgrade to CPU wise, and how long do you plan to keep your current CPU?

If it is 3 months time, I would advise the GTX280, then at 90 days after purchase use EVGA's step-up program to get a better GPU around the time of your new build.

tbh chewy i would save the money and get everything at the same time and plus there will be new graphics cards (maybe even cheaper u never know) by the time you are ready upgrade your CPU... but that is just my opinion

i am not saying get it all now but u say ur gonna upgrade ur CPU in like a year or so, new stuff will be out by then probably or atleast about to come out and u might be able to get more for a better price...

If it has been running cool and quiet, it will last for at least another year. Just bumping your CPU up to 3.0 like we discussed on XFire will have a good impact on performance, even with your old card you will see a performance boost.

Believe it or not, your 8800GTS is even bottlenecked slightly at 2.4Ghz

IM not worried about getting more life out of this card. Even if i do bottleneck the other one i sitll will get better performance.

Not really... you don't seem to understand what bottlenecking means.

The easiest way to explain bottlenecking is to think of a bottle full of water that just tipped over. The size of the bottle is your GPU, the opening in the bottle is your CPU. If the opening is the same size, the water will still spill out at the same rate.

Here's a Diagram I just made up in paint.

Hopefully this clears some things up.

lol a Q6600 doesnt bottleneck an 8800GTS. My E4500 @ stock was maybe 5fps slower to when it was at 3.0Ghz. Im not quite sure i understand your diagram, a bottleneck doesnt go on top of a bottle (hyperthetically speaking of course) it would more be a straight pipe this would be how i would draw it.
