Headset Sound Issue

Allright, I noticed this a long time ago, but its really starting to annoy me so I figured I would finally address the problem.

I have a pair of Turtle Beach 5.1 headphones...

To my sound card, which is just a cheap card that I bought just for the 5.1 (Mobo card didn't have the inputs), which is a...

Now, finally. The problem.

Its as simple as this, footsteps and other sounds coming from behind me are turned down really really low, most of the time I don't even notice someone walking up behind me when its normally very obvious. Even louder noises (AWP going off behind you, I play CS) are really low and... compressed. At first I figured perhaps I blew out the back speakers on the headphones? Maybe it's something to do with the adapter?

I have noticed the sound coming out of my back set of speakers in my 5.1 speaker setup are considerably lower than the front ones, maybe this has something to do with it? For some reason I always figured that it was supposed to be like that.

I totally forgot I made this thread... and looked it up to find that no one had ever replied in the first place.

It's still not fixed, or am I perhaps, an idiot?

Try reinstalling all drivers, both for the software and hardware.

Then run some built in positional tests. If it's still quiet, your monkey has probably blown a gasket.
