    XP on a external HDD

ok just another idea that i might do.

From my old PC i had XP on the Hard drive.
I have removed the HDD from my pc.
Put it in a external HDD holder thingy. It connects to the pc via USB.

Can i boot XP like this?
using vista and it is FFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

    thanks

You could supposing the motherboard supports USB booting, but it would be very, very slow.

As alex said...even if you could do it it would be uber mega slow

why do you want to boot onto XP from the external anyway?

          i resent that. heh

you could get an esata card and an esata enclosure for less than $40 i'd think. then you're limited by the speed of the HD instead of the interface.

hmmm...on second thought, i can't outright guarantee you can boot from a drive on a PCI card tho i can't rightly fathom why it wouldn't work off the top o' my head.

edit, nvm that last part, no reason it wouldn't work:

^with something like that, you wouldn't even need a pci-esata card. just an open sata channel. ain't progress uber!
