My Mic

Now then.... well, iv got a Steelseries Siberia headset (with headband, not the crapp neck thing) and it worked like a dream b4 i formatted my dire excuse of a pc.. but since that much needed format my mic is playing up.

i have the normal drivers i use everytime iv formatted before and my problem is 2 things

1) Sometimes my mic will work perfectly in CoD4 (only) but now it just feeds my sound thru mic and doesn't pickup my voice (on vent) same with desktop WoW etc...

2) When i exit a game, my mic mutes itself, i.e, in the Sound control panel, when i bring it up the Mic box is ticked to mute.

the jack things (green & pink) are both in the correct slots...

would this be Headset related or a stray setting somewhere in my driver/settings?

erm, 1 sounds like you have a line out/mic crossed with an output or something at the driver level. make sure your MS sound, your audio software sound, and the doohickey's connected to your backplate all agree.

2 supports that theory....

i'm not an audio guru...hopefully someone here is, lol...

edit. def...if vent isn't picking up and you really know how to make vent work, then you've got issues with what MS is seeing as your mic channel, methinks. oops, i put def. not def. just my opinion...
