    First Custom Build

A mate from BFE (he will probs post on here in a bit) has $750 for a PC and he was going to buy it from here but they didnt look very good to me so i told him to ask on the tech forums. As these things do, the topic got round to custom builds and i suggested he give it a try as its not as trick as you think and a valueble skill to have for the future. I assured him myself and the guys on here would be here to help him out with any difficulties he encounters and i pointed him in the direction of a few online guides so he can get a feel of what he will have to do. I quickly knocked up a spec on newegg for him but my knowledge of the site, rebates and taxes etc is poor so i thought i wud throw it up here for you guys to pick apart.

It doesnt have a GPU because he wants to use his existing 9800GT but if you guys can fit a better GPU into the budget with a different CPU then feel free to list it up.

Also, can you link up any decent prebuilt websites as an alternative for him.

Looks good to me, though I might try an find a P48 motherboard instead of P45. The chances are pretty slim of finding one that meets your budget, but look anyway.

No point in X48 unless you have a raging need for Crossfire.

If you're going to build your on computer, keep in mind that it's not just a matter of building the computer. You have to be able to provide tech support for yourself and troubleshoot/diagnose/fix all your problems yourself. Make sure you're comfortable with that before you take the leap of faith.

Do you have any prebuilt companies you would recommend as alternatives?

Dell dont really have much thats fits in the pricebracket unfortunately

Who says getting a prebuilt is the only alternative? I'm sure if he decides he's not going to build it himself, he can find a good 'Mom 'N Pop' type computer store and check there before going on to a huge brand like Dell(Not that there's anything wrong with Dell).
