As far as I know the Call of Duty World at War custom content only works for the PC version of the game. The only game on that Playstation 3 that I am currently aware of that can download custom content is Unreal Tournament III.

So your grandson will have to just play the stock maps that come with the game if he is playing on the Playstation 3. Hope this helps.
