Got some money, need hardware changes?

    Hey there techies!!

I got 250 Quid (UK Pounds) as present money do i need to upgrade anything in my PC or is it good enough to last a little longer?

    CPU: C2D E6750 2.66ghz

    RAM: 2GB DDR2 Corsair XMS 800Mhz

    GFX: Geforce OEM 8800GTX

    PSU: Corsair HX620W

    Case: Antec 900

    CPU Cooler: AC7 freezer pro

    MotherBoard: IP-35 E ABIT

Hard drives i dont think are in need of upgrade. nor the DVD drives for that matter.

I got no sound card, dont think i am too attracted into splashing out for one as sound does not bother me much i am very happy with my 2.0 logitech speakers. So all in all should i upgrade a few parts or wait further till the summer or next winter?

can i leave the cooler out for now? the above two i.e. processor and ram are fine, matter of fact vista in Bahrain pretty darn cheap.

Hmm got an idea i will get the cpu Alex posted e8400 hold on the ram and cooler for a while seeing that they can be obtained later on right before i leave for the summer (Getting vista around on June).

WAIT dont order a 45nm CPU for the IP35-E i was going to do the same for mine but apparently its a real gamble as to wether they willl work even with the latest bios. Apparently even if you do get it working the motherboards dont read the temp sensors on them properly meanign your fan runs at full whack all the time My house mate should be getting one next week and im going to test it on my motherboard just so i know that its safe and il report back but im not holding too much faith.

If anything get a Q6600 as they are garunteed to work.

You should really get another 2GB of RAM before a new CPU. That would make the most difference.

Yea, more RAM is the only thing I would really bother with at the moment, you will need it if you are going 64 + does Windows 7 use more ram than Vista on 32? anyhow, If I were you I would hold on to what you got now, its not old by any means, save so you can buy top end of the market when you do need to upgrade.

Aside from RAM what you have now is fine when it comes to gaming, If I were you I'd continue to wait and continue to save and later on make some real changes.

If he was using Windows Vista or the Windows 7 Beta, this would be true. However, using Windows XP, most of that memory would go to waste. Windows XP is horribly inefficient at managing memory compared to Windows Vista/Windows 7.

Windows 7 32-bit can't utilize any more memory than Windows Vista 32-bit since it's a hardware limitation, not a software limitation, that causes the 4 gig limit. I suggest you read here for more information: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1035670

Should be okay, but when overclocking, they may differ in how far they go.
