Re: Windows 7 Build 7000 First Impressions
Yeah its the same with XP and ubuntu for me i think it has something to do with the installation process. Windows 7 only doesnt seem to detect other system partitions. (Havent managed to get it to detect the vista, XP or Ubunut partitions I set up to test)
Think this could be some sort of fail safe so that Windows 7 cannot do any damage as its only in Beta to any other operating systems runningComment

Re: Windows 7 Build 7000 First Impressions
I jumped from xp to this (on the gaming pc) and have not had any problems yet. All my games and programs work so far. (knock on wood) Had a video problem, but used the newest vista drivers and fixed it. Sleight fps problem, but that could be drivers.Comment

Le BumpSo:- Not detecting Netcard, and 4850 keeps crashing in anything but safe mode
- Scavenged old net card which is recognized. Online!
- Unable to get through Windows update before crashing
- Booting in safe mode: Windows update is disabled in safe mode
- Tried MS update site: Update is now integrated in Control Panel, no patch for you.
- Download Beta driver from ATI
- "Failed to load detection drivers"
- Safe mode AND Disabling driver signature? Not a chance
:cussing:
So to update my defective display driver, I need a working display driver.
What kind of #ยค&% thought that kind of Catch22 would be a good idea?
I just got a new MB, and now everything seems to work fine (RC1 64 bit)
There are no longer any problems with my 4850, and I just added another so I have two in crossfire. It runs COD4 and 3DMark06 without problems.
My old MB had support for both AGP and PCI-E, I guess that was a bit too exotic for Win7.
The way it looks right now, I expect to replace my old XP with Win7 64 bit when it becomes available.
And btw., I managed to get around the Catch-22 by installing the standard VGA driver in safe mode. Not that running a 4850 in VGA mode was much fun
