I got a new Samsung 2032BW 20'' due to a large price reduction at the time (around Xmas). Now I am having issues that seem to be with the contrast(?) i.e when I look at the sun in bf2 for example or fire a gun, around the flash/bright light I get an outline that looks like 16bit colour, kinda hard to explain but it just gets really annoying. I had a fiddle with some of the settings and nothing helped :\ any ideas?

Re: Monitor probs
Yea, I cant 'capture' it in a screenshot,
Also its only around really bright stuff, like I said sun in bf2 if i shoot at it I can the outline of the muzzle flash in '16 bit'.

Well I will swap the cable around tormorrow and give that a try, Its not even a month old at the moment so Im doubtful it is that, going to update drivers and other stuff, thanks for the help so far.Comment

Re: Monitor probs
Reading the specs and reviews about this monitor, I dont think ghosting is going on, though it sounds like it.
Is the monitor setup in the game with its default resolution and ratios?
I have a 226BW and when I first set it up, all my games were set to 1280x1024, which was my old monitor settings. It looked BAD. Set it to 1680x1050 (I think) and the proper ratios and everything looked great.
This monitor should be 1680x1050 as well. Anything less or more then that and you can expect to see blurring.

Re: Monitor probs
Yea I run most games at 1680x1050 " 60hz (highest refresh available)
Sorry this is not the best example but only what I could really capture, around the explosion for example on the outer layer it goes kinda purple and in the background, in most of my games a muzzleflash will have a really strong outline like this.

Re: Monitor probs
Yea its CoH
from one of the single missions, I booted up a few games on my old pc (dif monitor) and it doest look the same, i.e I dont see the outlines on some stuff, hardly notice it in source games just mainly bf2 and CoD5 and on me desktop (when watching a movie) Taking a pic would be hard, its like a flash for a second...guess I could try though.

Re: Monitor probs
i'm pretty severly colorblind, so i couldn't really see what you were talking about.
first thing that jumps into my head regarding halo (edit: lighted rings, not the blasted game) problems is to check bloom and/or HDR settings at the driver interface level.Comment

Re: Monitor probs
Sorry to keep being so vague but this is starting to really bug me, changed my VGA lead for a DVI one, no difference. Another, hopefully more clear example below, the outlines on helicopter blade is what i see around say a flash bang in cod5 or the sun in bf2 when I move my cross-hair around on them.
